The open space presented is an example of a modern approach to open work place planning. It reflects the current trend in creating open plan workplaces to allow flexible working and encourage positive working environments.
The structure of the office is reflected in the arrangement of the desks where particular teams (divisions) are noticeably separated with cabinets. Workers within a particular division are grouped in to teams of 4-6. Individuals are set facing each other near a natural light source, which is proven to provide a positive effect on team efforts and communication. The cabinets are placed in set areas to create natural divisions without creating barriers. Whilst sitting we feel that we have our own private space and can work quickly and quietly, the height of the dividing cabinets however mean that by simply standing up you can easily communicate with those throughout the office. Additional screens which divide the space into individual workstations create acoustic pockets and are placed between individual workers if privacy is required. In response to the users’ needs BN Office Solution manufactured a number of accessories making desk organisation tidier and easier to manage.
Meeting areas have been created, with large meeting tables and conference chairs, these are touch down areas free to use by all, where briefings and quick meetings can be held. There are also designated break out areas with sofas and coffee tables designed to encourage staff to take regular short breaks or hold informal meetings. Open plan workspaces do effectively encourage communication and improve working conditions, however it is still important to offer quiet boardroom areas and call boxes to allow staff a peaceful environment if needed. The quiet rooms in question are built with light glass screens, which make the space lighter and modern but at the same time offers audio privacy. A sound proofed carpet is used in these areas to cut down on noise levels. In the meeting rooms an open ceiling is used to create more space.
Multiple floor boxes connecting power and date under the flooring allow for quick reconfigurations. The possibility of easy and flexible space forming is an undeniable advantage of the solution used. It shows not only a modern design but is also a reaction to the modern way of the contemporary office functioning.
Massive Design
The open space plan presented was created with a view to meeting not only aesthetic expectations but also takes on board specialist knowledge of ergonomics and caters for acoustics, effective communication and organisation.The SQart furniture system offers high quality materials and functionality. An important role is played by the Orga Tower elements which work not only as desk legs but serve as useful cabinets making in storing personal affects and organising your workload. The sliding door cabinets divide the room into clearly separated areas. Items from the SQart furniture system and Belite chairs are used which provide a professional and clean design. The meeting and breakout areas were separated not only spatially but also by the colours of the furniture used. The orange Mody sofas offer an ideal meeting zone in a less formal atmosphere.
