General guidelines concerning removal of stains. In case of local stains and when special detergents for cleaning Alantara® fabric are not available (a list of the detergents can be found at www.alcantara.it) cleaning of the fabrics should be performed with strict adherence to the following guidelines:
– cleaning must be started as soon as possible (within 30 minutes) from soiling, first by preventing the spreading of the stain by wiping the stain in the direction from stain edge to its middle;
– never pour a detergent directly on the fabric;
before you start cleaning, remove all substances which are on the fabric;
– when trying to prevent the spreading of the stain or its penetration of the fabric you should not wipe the fabric too much;
– if you are using a sponge rinse it with clean water and squeeze strongly before every application;
Generally, you should use lukewarm water to remove common stains which are water-soluble (juice, ketchup, liqueur, alcohol, tea, etc). The stain should be rinsed with lukewarm water and in more difficult cases (coffee, coco, chocolate, etc.) you should additionally sprinkle the stain with lemon juice and then rinse the cleaned place with clean water. In case of stains which do not dissolve in water it is recommended to clean Alcanatra® fabric with special detergents (a list of the detergents can be found at www.alcantara.it). If those detergents are not available you can use lemon juice or pure ethyl alcohol depending on the type of stain.
